I studied Science at school probably like you do now- a little bit of everything. I always loved drawing plants and animals. As I got older I liked it when we had to figure something out for our homework and I particularly liked Chemistry. After school I studied for 10 years at university. Most people don’t study for as long as that, but I studied in France for a little while and than spent a long time studying for my PhD. That means I get to be called ‘Dr’, but what it really means is that I spent a long time studying one very small part of science and found out something new. My project was trying to find a medicine that could help to cure cancer.

I hope this answers you question.

I’ve only been studying for my PhD for about 2 years, it’s really the first time I’ve done scientific research. Before that I was more of a student, being taught about science instead of researching science.
