      My favourite thing to research is how a shiny new bit of metal turns rusty. Some metals (like stainless steel) only rust in a little spot on the surface. Taking microscope images of the rust spot as is gets deeper and deeper is really cool, and (luckily) is useful to do as well, because it tells us how the rusting progresses with time.
      And I ski. I tried snowboarding once, but I fell over and winded myself on the nursery slope (embarrassing), and I kind of went off it from there…
